At what point do I have to pass the PRAXIS subject matter test?
  Applicants should pass the PRAXIS content exams PRIOR to application.
  • Mathematics: 0061, minimum score 136
  • Biology: 0235, minimum score 148 and 0233 or 0433
  • Chemistry: 0245, minimum score 152 and 0431
  • Physics: 0265, minimum score 144 and 0262 or 0433

Do the applicants have to take the GRE?
  Graduate applicants should take the GRE if they also plan to pursue a Masters program at any University. If an applicant is interested in licensure only, they do not need to take the GRE.

How do I know if I qualify for the program?
  You qualify if you have a Bachelor’s degree from an accredited university with at least 24 credit hours in Mathematics or Science (Biology, Chemistry, Physics, or related field such as Engineering or Nursing). Degrees in Business, Accounting or Finance do not qualify.

Are there specific times to log on to the online courses? Do I have to take any test in person?
  There are no specific times to log on, but instructors are aware of the number of times students log on. Assignments and test are delivered online.

Do I have to find my own teaching position before entering the program?
  Yes, please look at our eligible school districts and apply for a position within one of these Tennessee districts. Then, you submit a letter of intent or a copy of contract with your application.

How will I get paid?
  You will receive a teacher of record’s salary for teachers within your school district.
